Vienna

Vienna - the Austrian capital - is a city of music, opera, waltzes and vineyards. It is relatively unique that the city is almost completely surrounded by an appellation that gets its name from the capital and where commercial grape growing extends well into urban environment.

600 hectares fall un der the "Wiener Gemischter Satz" DAC - a speciality unique to the wine region of Vienna. Its literally a mixed group and refers to a field blend of several white varieties grown in the same vineyard and vinified in one batch. Soils and climates vary and the Danube river has also a major influence on the viticultural conditions.

Aside of the "Gemischter Satz" Viennese vineyards include Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Pinot Noir and Zweigelt
